Benefit News for 2008

BAWA Medicare Review - August

We are pleased to tell you that the BAWA Medicare scheme’s out-patient limit is being increased from £1,000 to £1,100 in the scheme year, 1 August to 31 July. This welcome increase will reduce the likelihood of members running out of out-patient allowance during the year.

There will continue to be no limit on in-patient or day-case procedures and there will be no changes to conditions covered by the scheme. It is likely that use by the scheme of the excellent Spire Bristol Hospital (formerly BUPA Glen) will progressively increase.

Medical inflation continues to outstrip the retail prices index by a considerable margin due to advances in medicine and is currently running at nearly 10%. You will remember that last year the rise in subscription for BAWA Medicare was held to just 3.5%. This year there has been a considerable increase in the number of claims under the scheme and we have to raise subscriptions by a larger amount; however over the two years the combined increases are still lower than medical inflation.

From August the adult subscription rate will be £48.95 per month, the child rate will be £17.95 per month and the over 65’s rate £130.95 per month. There will continue to be no policy excess payable for use of the scheme and future subscriptions are not affected by whether or not a member has claimed. Despite the increase the scheme will still provide excellent local medical treatment at competitive prices. Don’t forget that you can cover your immediate family as well as yourself and all payments are collected monthly from your salary or paid by monthly direct debit as appropriate.

Medical Fees Benefit.

When claiming for Medical Fees, please ensure the Practitioner is fully registered with a relevant body recognised with the National Health Service or the British Medical Authority.

If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact BAWA Healthcare and Leisure before treatment, to check if you are able to claim back under the Medical Fees Benefit.

No Age Limit on Non-Payroll-Deducted Membership

The upper age limit on our Non-Payroll-Deducted membership category has been removed.

Attaining the age of 65 is no longer a barrier to participation in the Benefits Scheme and Members can continue to pay to claim from our range of Benefiits.

Sports Package - No Changes

There has been no increase in the cost of our Sports Package Membership since it was launched last year.

For only £6.50 per month (which is just £1.50 per week) Constituent Company employees can continue to access the Leisure Centre facilities (subject to charges where applicable) and claim up to £200 reimbursement of selected healthcare expenditure!

Change of employment

If you are working for one of our Constituent Companies and have your subscriptions taken by your payroll department, do not forget that if you wish to continue with BAWA membership, and receive all your health care benefits when you leave the Company, you will have to change your method of payment.

You will need to become an NPD (Non Payroll Deducted) member, your subscriptions will then be taken by Direct Debit. Contact Barbara on 0117 976 8064, RR 96831, Airbus 62361 or email. office@bawabristol.org.

Rolls Royce Families Open Day
14th June 2008
On Saturday 14th June 2008, we were lucky enough to be invited to have a stand in the main Marquee.

We were able to have lots of information on hand for Membership, Sports, Social, Entertainment and Affiliated Clubs.

We also had leaflets available for offers and services provided by BAWA, and many promotional freebies.

It was a fantastically organised with a wide range of displays in the marquee and lots more in the various areas’ hosting viewing of operations carried out at Rolls Royce.

The new Restaurant was open selling a large range of culinary delights, and the hot dog and beef burger stand outside was doing very well.

There were far too many attractions to mention but the Spitfire Display was good to watch as well as the stilt walkers, jugglers, and classic cars.

Raffle

We held a draw on the day at the BAWA stand I am pleased to say John Mills of Rolls Royce was the winner of a CD player.

New Offer
We have registered with a brilliant new fundraising scheme called
CommunitySave.
It helps to significantly cut your energy bills at home and if you use it,
we can get £15.00 donated to us, to send to a chosen charity.
You can choose to switch your energy supplier and money can be raised
for charity.

CommunitySave has two uses:
- it saves you loads of money on your energy bills (it accesses the cheapest
UK prices from all suppliers unlike others sites).
- it raises money for community groups because every member who
switches supplier raises money for their group.

If you switch Gas we can receive £7.50,
if you switch Electricity we receive a further £7.50.

BAWA will then receive a quarterly cheque to donate to a
charity which we will feature in this News and Offers section.

Please go to
www.communitysave.co.uk.

1- Enter your postcode, and how much you currently spend with your energy supplier.

2- The website will then show if there are cheaper deals for your energy.

3- Choose the deal you want, and follow all the steps - it's very quick and simple.

4- You will reach a page titled 'Secure Energy Transfer'.  On this page, in the section 'Your Authority', you will be asked the following question.

'If you have been recommended to the CommunitySave website please enter the organisation's name in this box in order that we can credit them to your transfer'.

In the box please type BAWA (exactly as it is written). And that is it!  We receive money for each household that chooses a better energy deal.

There is an extra way we can raise even more money.

For EVERY organisation that we refer to CommunitySave and which registers with the website, we get a bonus of 20% of all the funds they raise with CommunitySave (they still get their money!).
A good cause can be anything - a charity, a school PTA, a village group, a sports club - basically ANY organisation that wants to raise funds.
Please think of friends and family all over Great Britain - lots of people are involved in clubs and good causes. Tell us which causes you have referred (they must have actually registered with CommunitySave) so that we can get our bonus.

THANK YOU – YOU WILL SAVE MONEY
AND WE WILL RAISE MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE!
